Remember Cawnpore!
And Forget Rotherham!
“Remember Cawnpore!” This was the Battle Cry of the avenging British soldiers in British India in 1857.
Well, it’s just not cricket to tell 200 women and children to leave the safety of Bibi Ghar (House of the Ladies) and then chop them up. Dashing children’s heads against stone walls, dismembering all and sundry is a definite No-No in Victorian Britain. Throwing the ghastly remains down a well will not do either.
No need to mention the massacre of the garrison, which was also promised safe passage by Nana Sahib, only to be shot to pieces for believing him.
“I say chaps, this Nana Sahib character evidently not a Gentleman, not as good as his word don’t you know”.
Retribution for this evil treachery was swift and brutal.
“Lets teach the blighters a lesson chaps, massacres are unacceptable to us and will be duly punished by blowing perpetrators to bits - Tally-Ho!
A suitable memorial was built over the well where the dismembered women and children had been cast.
“The Angel of The Resurrection”, centrepiece of the memorial
Of course, with Indian independence in 1948, this memorial was partially demolished and the remains of it moved. All Souls Church, a beautiful building constructed to commemorate the massacre now displays the Angel.
Fast forward to King Charles III, 2025, Defender of the Faiths. Things are a little different now. Forget about Lent, the King is more interested in Eid and Ramadan. No more remembering either. It’s now about forgetting, especially if you mention towns such as Rotherham, Telford and Rochdale.
There is a little problem of “Grooming Gangs”.
I know what you think, what’s wrong with having gangs going around making sure everyone is well dressed, with their hair neat and tidy, shoes well polished.
That’s euphemisms for you. Lets call a spade a spade. (then again, I’d better not, I live in Melbourne Australia after all)
Here is a Grooming Gang. (they don’t look particularly well groomed to me)
Not much punishment either (unless you complain about them of course)

In 3 minutes you've done a better job covering this gruesome subject than any one else I've read. Well done.
Look on the bright side: You're publishing this from Australia. You can still -- for a little while longer -- get away with it. You posted this from England, Keir would have you locked up for 3 or 4 years. 🤔💩
